Player’s Handbook

Rules

We are following the lead of one of the more popular NWN servers (Arelith) when it comes to our rules.
“It is expected that all players will be familiar with the rules upon joining.”

Role Play

We’re a roleplay server, this brings with it the requirement you stay ‘In Character’ at all times.

‘Out of Character’ PMs are allowed.

PvP

Combat and Political actions against other characters must be interactively role played.

If your character is killed by another (or vice versa), you must wait 24 real time hours before interacting again.

Stealing

No Excessive Theft.

Stealing more than once per 24 real time hours against the same player is prohibited.

Be Nice

We do not tolerate unwarranted rudeness, harassment and poor gamesmanship.

SoT is a ‘PG-13’ server, cybering is not permitted.

Listen to the DMs

The Dungeon Masters are the final authority in any dispute, question or issue that may arise.

The DMs are contactable in-game or via the Forums

The World

Athas is a brutal and unforgiving post apocalyptic medieval world. It is a savage world with frightful challenges beyond every dun. As if the world wasn’t dangerous enough one could die just from the elements or simply miss managing ones resources. Athas is not  a world for the weak or the simple-minded-those who can not adapt, who cannot meet every challenge with confidence in their skills and abilities simply won’t survive.

This world is ancient, built upon and beneath the ruins of past empires, leaving the landscape dotted with places of adventure and mystery. It’s savage, primal landscape is the result of long centuries of ecological and magical abuses. The world is dying. It breathes its last gasps as water turns to silt, grasslands become sandy waste’s, and jungles decay into stony barrens. Still, life finds ways to endure even in these hellish conditions. In fact, it thrives.

The City State of Tyr

Tyr is going to be where players start out at and will be our main hub/focal point. That said we will be expanding out from there over time creating as much of the world as we can.

SoT is all about Role Playing

What is Role Playing

We are trying to bring more of a PnP (Pencil and Paper) style of role play to a video game. Which is why we are adding a lot of role play elements to our server.

A Living Breathing World

The goal is to create a living breathing world that feels a live. So this isn’t a fast pace action game. It will play much slower with a lot of resource management.

World Map

Players will have more then one option on where they would like to start out with their character after their first character. That is right everyone will have to start in the same place with their first character. However once you race a point with that first character then you will be allowed to create other characters with other optional starting points.

Starting point for first character

You are enslaved on a caravan which left the city state of Urik headed for the city state of Tyr. How and why you became enslaved is up to you. You get to create your character to be what you want them to be. So select the race and class you want to play, as well as the skills you want to know. Be creative and make up a background and history for your character. Where and how were they were raised? What were they taught?

Resources

Managing ones resources plays a huge part in staying a live on Athas.

Resting

There are two forms of rest on SoT, short and long.

A short rest is to regain fatigue points, in other words to catch your breath after running or doing something that was really taxing.

While a long rest (sleeping for most races) is to recover Spells, PSPs, Hit Points, Fatigue points.
